About Us

...I'm the good looking one...

3 YEARS AND STILL HERE...

Well, here we are, 3 years later and still going strong. If you missed our previous about us page, you missed where we started from and what brought us here to this fantastically exciting Industry. If you are an Industry insider, you are probably saying to yourself “LIARS”, but you would be wrong. Of course we are only 3 years into this, but after starting from nothing, I’m figuring just the fact that we are still around says a lot, as well as the fact that we are still enjoying what we do….YEEE HAAWWW or in scooter language “RIGHT-EE-OH   DADDY-OH”…that’s right…SCOOTERS…all the craze now. Lets back-up…oh wait, real motorcycles don’t have reverse, so, lets shift into neutral for a second.

THE FIRST DAY…

WOW…” this is exciting…we just plopped down months of hard labor and spent thousands to refurbish our building, bought thousands of dollars of inventory, took DMV training courses and learned a whole new computer system. “This thing is a cash register?”…HAY DAVE, WE SOLD A T-SHIRT!!!...our first dollar…how exciting! I think the second day, we sold a spark plug….it basically went on like this for the first few months. Dave and I used to play X-BOX Motocross games waiting for the next customer to come through the door. We heard everything from “Who are you guys and where did you come from?” to “Are those Blue and Yellow bikes Chinese made?” YIKES!

GETTING INVOLVED…

Dave and I had this idea to go to a local off-road riding club meeting to try and “get-involved” with the riding community. We thought, all the years of riding, we’ve never joined a club and joining one now would give us the opportunity to not only give back to the sport that our families have enjoyed over the years but it could also help our business (cant live on just T-shirt sales). From attending once a month meetings to full force activism: I volunteered to be the MRA Secretary, and although you could tell all the guys sitting around the table weren’t comfortable with a newbie they've never met before becoming their secretary, they decided to give me a trial run…three years later, I’m still Secretary. Dave has recently been elected by the club to become an Oregon Parks and Recreation representative on both the County and State level and will work hard to make sure we all have places to ride. Both Dave and I are the MRA poker-run chair-persons and are in charge of holding 2 pokers-runs a year. Somehow we were also elected as Co-Presidents of a local Supermoto Club and have been doing what we can to help put on events and help the club with Track work and practice days. One of our proudest moments was when we were part of the group that spoke at a State level meeting that actually got our state funding for OHV recreation re-instituted when some political groups tried to put a stop to it. By far, the best part about joining these clubs have been the people we’ve met. From competing dealer owners to club enthusiasts, we’ve met some amazing people that we are very proud to call friends.

EXPANDING OUR LINE…

Our first line of Bikes consisted of Husaberg and Sherco. Coming to a small town with a bike line like Husaberg meant we would be answering never-ending questions like “whats a Husaberg, some kind of beer?”, or, “hey, are those bikes from China?”…no kidding…people would actually point to a Husaberg and ask if they were Chinese! WE HAD OUR WORK CUT OUT FOR US! So television ads, radio ads, demo rides and more demo rides landed us to be the Best New Husaberg Dealer for 2006. There is a family of Honda Fanatics that started shopping at our shop back in 2006 and it became clear that they love Hondas. From the huge Honda logos on their trailers to the clothes they wear, you can’t sway their thoughts on Honda. However, a son of one of these Honda crazed Expert level riders decided to try out a 450 Husaberg and that was the start of a successful Bike Barn campaign in securing the Open Amateur 1st place trophy in the OMRA series for 2007. By the way, another one of our Husaberg customers  got 2nd open amateur. Since our opening, we’ve taken on Gas Gas, Husqvarna and now Genuine Scooters. That’s right scooters…quality scooters…with Gas prices where they are and the economy in a slow-down, street legal 2-wheeled vehicle sales have taken over sales from their off-road only counterparts. From Husqvarna Enduros to 50cc Genuine Buddy Scooters, the local scene here is 2-wheeled madness.

OUR FUTURE...

With our slow growth goal, drive to succeed and our wives amazing support, we are hoping to further increase our product offerings and feel that 2-wheels are the wave  of our cultures future. From Adventure Touring and Scooter Rallies, to Commuters and Weekend Warriors, having options for people to choose from, while maintaining our goal of excellent customer service is still our main focus. We feel there are some great things to come for us and have looked into increasing our 2-wheeled footprint. The fact that we are still a small shop is probably an advantage in this economy and we look forward to the growth potential. We both realize that customer service has gotten us where we are today, and we will continue to strive to be a shop for the customer. Again, we were customers before we became a dealer...we know where our focus needs to be. We also can't sit by and let the 2-wheel world pass us by. Exciting news approaches for Bike Barn so please check back often...
