2008 TIMBER MOUNTAIN HARE SCRAMBLES
An Amazing event from an even more AMAZING CREW...The MRA's Timber Mountain Hare Scrambles was a HUGE success consindering the recent land issues and stailmates between local governments and the rest of us that like to still play in the dirt...or in this case, dirt and snow. OUTSTANDING trail work from a tireless pair that worked non-stop, day and night to help put on this tight, technical yet fun Hare Scramble (one of them rides an awesome 2008 Husky TE250...where'd he get that from?). The Sign-up Crew, Scoring Crew and Tech Crew were there bright and early in the freezing cold to make sure everyone had a great race.
I would go through the list of people who helped in this event, but would likely end up forgetting someone by accident and then feeling horrible for doing so, so, I'll keep it simple...what was nice though was that no-one, and I mean not one of our crew complained about putting on this event...
well, maybe one complained...
With the threats of HORRIBLE weather the Friday before the event and the ever increasing gas prices (buy a buddy scooter), we never could have guessed the awesome turnout we had.
Husaberg had an amazing showing for this event with Bike Barn Rider Nathon Pfaff of Pfaff Bros. Racing in the Open Expert Class, Batterystuff.com Steve in the 30 Expert Class, Tom Deany in the over 50 class, and BOSS prepped Factory Husaberg rider; Rory Sullivan in the Premier AA Class.
Dave and I with the help of others of course, hosted a Beginner/ Kids / Beginning Womens Event (not a race) that consisted of a mile-long course run six times of: single-track, double-track and an occasional root or rut. While some sections proved to be challenging for some entrants, the majority of the participants seemed to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the snow really started coming down, causing us to cancel the PEEWEE class that was to follow.
